Some Initiatives undertaken by McGraw Hill India towards Education &

Poverty Eradication

  • The program has been initiated in association with Rainbow Homes run by Rainbow Foundation. Rainbow Homes is an organization that has been working in the field of providing social service to the homeless children by providing education, boarding and food facility to them. Over the years, they have been managing children homes in various locations across India.
  • The program has been undertaken to support across two girl child homes of the Foundation located in the territory of New Delhi, which is within the local limits of the Company, covering more than 220 girl children. We, at McGraw Hill, provide resources required to accomplish the needs of education, nutrition, and health care services. These three needs form an essential trinity of support for the children as proper nutrition, care and attention and the right to education are all imperative for a child to grow and realize his/her full potential.
  • Through this program, resources such as Uniforms & Shoes, Books & Stationery, Food & Nutrition, Medicare (First Aid, OPD & treatment cost), Hygiene & Sanitation (child & home), Bedding & bedsheets, Home Utilities etc. are provided to the children so they can lead a comfortable life and grow up to be responsible, educated citizens of the country.
  • McGraw Hill India has partnered with Delhi Rainbow Homes to promote employment-oriented skill development and job preparedness for the poor and vulnerable Indian youth. These young citizens, aged from 15 to 22 years, come from severely economically challenged homes. Many of them were also homeless before joining the Delhi Rainbow Homes.
  • The funds donated by McGraw Hill are used to sponsor skill development courses for the youth aged from 15 to 22 years in reputed training institutes across New Delhi. The Sponsorship covers course fees whereby children can learn vocational skills and can get a job for themselves. The positive impact of these measures has been reflected in the number of children completing these courses and consequently getting placed successfully.
  • McGraw Hill India began its journey of unlocking a brighter future for the youth in the year 2018. With the help of Rainbow Homes and Head Held High, we started a training center in New Delhi at Tilak Vihar for the youth to learn soft skills such as spoken English, computer courses and job-readiness courses.
  • The center offers a custom-developed curriculum aimed at those with little or no mainstream education. The ulterior objective is to find a suitable part/ full-time job for every student. The center has successfully completed four batches of 6 months each, whereby students enrolled and completed the course. Many of them have gotten placed and are now self-sufficient.
